seeds and shingles

once upon a time
there was nothing
here

but someone had a vision
took hammer in hand

seed was scattered

and here i stand
relishing the scene

Great Creator of
all

on this crisp october day

let me see
let me be

your color

solitary rock at sunrise

to think

she sits there for days
and no eye sees
the rays of soft dawn
on her
as the waves
wash over

through countless nights
when none behold
the blue moon's light
upon her

surely
the sun and moon rise
on a beauty

that is

sand piper at daybreak

when life calls
like an ocean deep

oh enter
in

alone at the pier

not a boat to be seen
no rigging
no sail

but isn't her emptiness
beautiful

and when the wave
