renewing my view

He took me to the woods

sat me down
among the pine
amidst the lines of granite

and showed me gold

twas far and away
beyond the grey
of my everyday

believing

"Go now and then, for fresh life....." John Muir

Note: This is a busy image and when i look at it i think it is an apt illustration of life itself. The living, dying, messy, ordered beautiful scene is one we can all relate to. I hope you are finding time and ways to hush yourself and see the gold in your every day existence.

october morning mystery

how can i show
what the sky
said to me

how can one see

a
whispering

"There is new life in the soil for every man. There is healing in the trees for tired minds and for our
overburdened spirits. There is strength in the hills, if only we will lift up our eyes. Remember that nature is your great restorer."
                                                     ~Calvin Coolidge (speech) July 25, 1924

choosing light, late

enjoy the full moon
her email read

twas late
but i unarmed the alarm
threw open the bolt
and stepped out
onto cold concrete
barefoot

how is it
i fail to avail myself
of such wonder
(sitting instead behind
the latch)

night after
glorious
night?

words spoken to a bunny

there you sit little one
in a world fraught with
danger

don't fear me
for i am kin

i know what it's like
to be frightened
to feel that the only safe move
is no move
at all

seeing you reminds me
of the profound tenderness
with which Jesus sees us both

understanding as He does
all that it means
to live on this tiny, beautiful,
and dangerous
planet

"He came with them to a place called Gethsemane......where He began to be sorrowful and troubled. Then He said to them, "My soul is very grieved, even unto death, stay and watch with me."
                                                                                                          Mt. 26:36-38

Our Savior King, is indeed able to sympathize with our weaknesses. Heb. 4:15

august afternoon miracles

yesterday
i took an afternoon walk

i felt a cool breeze
on my face
and saw white clouds
in a blue sky

i heard crows, turkey,
and tiny creatures
like locusts and frogs

i smelled freshly mown
hay

my feet and legs carried me
up a hill and
back down

i breathed
in
and out

all of these things happened

they
really did

"The most incredible things about miracles is that they happen."
                                                                      -  C.S. Lewis

pondering faith along I 70

somewhere along
the journey

we begin to realize
the truth we've believed
but never really known

"life on earth
is but a vapor"

indeed

sadness indwells
the quickening

but while days
blur into decades

something called hope
rises from the earth
like trees from prairie grass

we hear it in the carefree laughter of children
we see it
in the forgiving eyes of the old

astonishingly
it is our daily privilege
to take hold of it
or let it

go

"Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see."
                                                                                            ~Hebrews 12:1

drama in the heavens

"The Light shines in the darkness
and the darkness has not overcome it..."
nor shall it ever

*So says the book of John, and so says the heavens.

"It is light, not dark, that is the end of all things."  Frederick Buechner
