it was gray
that day
rain fell
in fits and
starts
leaves fell too
silently swirling
to the damp
dark ground
just maybe
i had found my way
to the old neighborhood
because people in my life
were falling too
bravely
quietly
gently

What a beautiful day, that day was. I wish you could have seen the color, and the light. Hoping this image will give you a glimpse of what it was like.
Such a lovely poem. The fall colors are so beautiful and bright this year.
ReplyDeleteTerry, I love the imagery you have painted of beauty amongst trials--so, so true. Eons ago my HS English teacher (Gary Deeter!) said in one of his classes that Fall made him somewhat sad. One of his students remarked that he loved fall when everything was dying because it made him acutely aware that he was alive! I've never forgotten that.
