New Year's Eve Request

Abba Father,

what is past
is 
past

today i stand poised

on the edge of eternity

curious, expectant,
sometimes afraid 

You have said

I am "never 
alone" 

so hold my hand, papa God,

and though my steps 
at times
will falter
help  me proceed
purposefully 

into that unknown territory
beyond 
the trees
