smrufs, up close and personal (San Miguel de Allende)

Soon after we arrived in San Miguel, we were blessed to witness the annual "spring parade". Hundreds of children decked out in costumes march through the center of the city. It is obviously quite an amazing sight. After the parade i happened on a group of smurfs in the center of the park....another sample of creative colorful San Miguel.

Why fit in, when you were born to stand out???

sight and sound (San Miguel de Allende)

these colors caused me stop
and stay

whereupon
i heard them
singing

"I felt a tremendous affinity with Van Gogh's deep feeling for the things he painted and how he exaggerated the colors of sky, chairs, faces, to bring them to almost more than life."

Sighting (San Miguel de Allende)

in a tiny town
against a wall
i saw a thing
called family

Today i'm thankful for "family"....both those blood related and the chosen family we call "friends".  Life would be lonely without them.

a little splash (San Miguel de Allende)

see the tiny splash of pink
it caused me pause
and made me think

of kindness

such a little bit it takes
but such a big impression
makes

".....the smallest act of kindness has the power to turn a life around." Leo Buscaglia

"Remember, that everyone you meet is afraid of something, loves something, and has lost something."   ~H. Brown Jackson Jr.

The Call (Oregon: Waterfalls and Whispers)

Oh, the call
of wind and weather
of crashing waves and
autumn heather

And aye, the quiet fog
doth speak
To him who with his soul
doth seek.

"The grand show is eternal. It is always sunrise somewhere; the dew is never dried all at once; a shower is forever falling; vapor is ever rising. Eternal sunrise, eternal dawn and gloaming, on sea and continents and islands, each in its turn, as the round earth rolls. "

Misty Morning (Oregon: Waterfalls and Whispers)

The Psalmist Says..."Day to day pours forth speech." Psalm 19:2

And ask, if i may,
"What does the salty air say to you?
The craggy rocks, and endless sea?
The trees, arms lifted high?"

Two writer's answers:

"The sea produces something over and over in a hoarse whisper. I cannot quite make it out."
                                                                                                    ~Annie Dillard

When anxious, uneasy, and bad thoughts come I go to the sea, and the sea drowns them out with its great wide sounds, cleanses me with its noise and imposes a rhythm upon everything in me that is bewildered and confused.  ~Rainer Maria Rilke

the rushing (Oregon: Waterfalls and Whispers)

Viewing
and hearing
the rushing

i was reminded
of suffering and beauty
and how overpowering
both can be

then
these words
came to mind:

“I will be with you through the water…
The floods shall not o’er take you….”

Oh Maker of mist and ocean depths
Still

our trembling souls.
