thorns

during yesterday's woodland walk
i was led
as it were
to this very tree

never seen
before
by me

afterward,
i journeyed home
covered with stick tights
and a fresh awareness
of His sacrifice

  1. That's a wild locust tree. They have been hybridized now to not have thorns.....sort of like religion in these times.

  2. Thanks for the insight Nan. I thought it was a locust tree but did not know they grew thorns directly from their trunks. We had a locust in our front yard when we lived in town. It had some thorns and shed it's little leaves profusely. The locust in this picture amazed me with its length and number of thorns.
